New international partnership : A vision for the future of genetic medicine services

The Quebec City University Hospital (UHC) and Institut Imagine (AP-HP, Inserm, Université Paris Cité), located on the campus of Hôpital Necker-Enfants malades, are proud to announce the signing of an international partnership agreement in genetic medicine. This agreement will make it possible to pursue and accelerate the work already undertaken by the UHC to implement its action plan for the development and consolidation of its Centre of Excellence in Genetic Medicine (CEMG).

In concrete terms, this new partnership will allow for the co-construction of exchange programs for professionals and students, the sharing of training programs between the two organizations, as well as the transfer of expertise, notably through research collaboration agreements.

The Institut Imagine , Europe's leading research center for genetic diseases, and the Centre of Excellence in Genetic Medicine (CEMG) of the CHU, which spearheads French-speaking genetic medicine in North America, are delighted with this partnership, which is fully in line with the desire to create international interdisciplinary centers of expertise to advance knowledge on genetic diseases.

This new international partnership is an important lever for our major university hospital, which aspires to become a Centre of Excellence in genetic medicine. The agreement between our two organizations allows us to look further ahead to meet the current and future needs of the population of Eastern Quebec and to affirm our leadership in this cutting-edge field.

The transmission of knowledge and teaching are among the key missions of Institut Imagine, carried out with its founding members and particularly by Université Paris Cité and its Faculty of Health. The Institute, which is open to the world and to the international scene, is proud to support the CHU de Québec-Université Laval. We hope that this partnership will contribute to improving access to diagnosis and genetic medicine care for rare diseases in this geographical area.
