The Imagine Institute for Genetic Diseases on the Necker Sick Children Hospital campus in Paris is inviting applications for junior and senior group leader positions.

Imagine is an interdisciplinary biomedical research center. We provide excellent core facilities for genomics, cell imaging, and bioinformatics together with creating animal models of human disease (mice, Zebrafish, and Drosophila). Additionally, we emphasize translational aspects and innovative therapeutic options, including gene therapies. Imagine, supported by a private Foundation, is affiliated with Paris University, INSERM (French national institute for medical research) and the greater Paris Public Hospitals Group (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris).

As a research and healthcare Institute, Imagine focuses on a wide variety of genetic diseases. We study all aspects of biomedical research from basic research to translational medicine with an ultimate aim of developing new approaches to therapy including gene therapy and gene editing.

The Institute includes over 500 staff members in around 28 laboratories with research programs addressing genetics, immunology and infectious diseases, hematology, nephrology, developmental defects, neurosciences and bioinformatics. All groups address these issues with wet lab and computational approaches.

We welcome applications in any field of biomedical research especially those linked to translational research. Our most important criteria for recruitment are an excellent scientific background and an excellent and innovative research program.

For this call, some emphasis will be put on:

  • Genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disability)
  • Computational, evolutionary, and population genetics of humans
  • Stem-cell biology and modeling disease in organoids

Appointments will be made at a junior or senior level, depending on experience.  Funding support package and lab spaces for new groups are guaranteed for 4 years, plus, if appropriate, 1 more year upon SAB advice.

Applications should be submitted to the Imagine Executive Committee at newgroups@institutimagine.org and must include:

  • A full CV, including a list of publications and grants obtained
  • Past and current research achievements and interests (2 pages)
  • Future research proposals (5 pages max)
  • Names and addresses of three referees for recommendation letters.

Applications must be received by December 31st, midday 2020 (UTC+2).
