Christin obtained her PhD in Psychiatry in 2019 from the University of New South Wales in Sydney (Australia). She joined the group of Dr. Michela Deleidi in 2022 to investigate the role of the gut-brain axis in the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease. During her postdoctoral work, Christin has explored how microbial metabolites influence inflammation and alpha-synuclein pathology using iPSC-derived immune cell and organoid models. Through the integration of multi-omics approaches, she aims to uncover key molecular mechanisms linking microbial alterations to immune cell dysregulation and neurodegeneration.
